To make use of the October 2007 half term break to remove 1200 old fluorescent tubes from Sudbury Upper School and replace them with T5 energy efficient tubes, using our Save It Easy® conversion kit.
Despite the tight timescale the job was completed on schedule, including as part of our service, restoration to working condition of any lamps that had been inoperative. Roger Doe, Site Manager at Sudbury Upper School expressed himself extremely happy with the installation and has had no problems whatsoever since completion.
Consistent with our policy of recycling as much waste as possible, we immediately removed all old lamps from the school premises, leaving the site clean and tidy. All packaging and old fluorescent tubes were transported to our warehouse in Bosham and recycled by licensed agencies, consistent with the disposal requirements of the WEEE directive.
It is estimated that the school will save 136,000 kWh each year, which equates to 58.60 tonnes of CO2. That significant energy and carbon saving will, of course, save a matching amount in the cost of lighting energy over the same period, a saving of some 50% in total.
The solution is covered by our warranty and with the life expectancy of the new T5 tubes being in excess of 20,000 hours, maintenance costs for lighting are also predicted to be much lower.
