Westfield Community Technology College
Installation throughout the college of some 1000 T12 linear fluorescent lamp ways of varying sizes following a successful initial trial installation to prove suitability and validate performance. Ability to fit all switch start and quickstart lamp sizes represented on the site was a major factor in choice of the Save It Easy® solution.
The college has a swimming pool and sports hall on site and is extensively used by the local community until late evening throughout the week, including week-ends and
during school holidays. The project was carried out under the direction of the specifier, facilities managers Mouchel Parkman acting on behalf of Herts County council.
Prior to conversion the connected load of the college’s lighting installation was 70kW.
After conversion, the load was reduced by approximately 40%. The resulting 28kW reduction gives an estimated annual reduction in electricity consumption of not less than 84,000kWh per annum and CO2 savings of 36 tonnes annually.
On the basis of the savings shown above, and taking into account both the product and installation costs, the payback period for the project is estimated at 2.9 years.
