Calderstones NHS Trust, based in the Ribble Valley, has significant lighting needs with many areas that must be lit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Trust used Save it Easy® to replace a mixture of 2ft to 8ft lamps across the multi-building site. The project was overseen by Ron Bury, the Energy and Environment Manager.
After the success of an initial 840 lamp trial in April 2007 the Trust was able to secure funding for a hospital-wide installation of low-energy lighting. The full installation in December 2007 converted a further 1,210 lamps. ESL (Energys Services Ltd), a specialist green tech installation company, carried out the work, completing the process within one month of being given the go-ahead.
As a result of installing the Save It Easy® units an annual energy cost saving of £22,590 and an annual CO2 emissions saving of 148 tonnes has been made. This means the project life savings of the installation total £178,200, which equates to 1358 tonnes of CO2.
